“Why can’t walking boots be as comfortable as training shoes?” Chris asks himself while walking the Roof of Wales with his friend Paddy Buckley. After suffering major blisters mid trek, Chris decides to post his stiff, unforgiving boots back home, and continue the 180 mile journey in his New Balance trainers – arriving at his destination without a hitch. Inspired by his experience in Wales, Chris is motivated to design the perfect walking boot – with a lightweight cushioned upper based on a last from the most comfortable running shoe on the market. The very first brasher boot is manufactured and distributed by Fleet foot – distributor of New Balance shoes and subsequently Reebok. The brasher boot is quickly adopted by walkers as the definitive boot for walking in the British Isles, particularly for its inherent comfort, support and lightweight construction.
